India is next door to China. Besides curry (咖喱) and the Taj Mahal (泰姬陵), what else do you know about this country? Chinese President Hu Jintao have been to visit India from November 20 to 23. He had free trade (贸易) talks with Indian leaders. His trip brought the two countries closer.
China and India are both developing Asian countries so they have a lot in common. They can learn a lot from each other. Both are big countries with several languages, different kinds of food and different climates (气候). They have a lot of farmers and are among the fastest growing countries in the world. Even the two countries’ economies (经济) work well together. For example, in computer business, China is strong in hardware while India is strong in software. China’s computer hardware factories developed fast. They make computer chips and hard disk drives. Big computer companies like IBM and Intel are busy building factories in China. The Indian software business has been growing very fast since the 1990s. Today, India sells software and services to nearly 95 countries around the world. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao once said that if China and India helped each other, they “could lead the world’s information technology industry into an ‘Asian century’.”
In the coming years, China and India have similar problems to solve. Both of them have large populations. China has 1.3 billion people and India has 1 billion. That’s one-third of the world’s population. With so many people, the two countries need to “keep growing fast to provide (提供) jobs for tens of millions of people every year,” said Yuwa Hedrick-Wong, an Asian-Pacific economy expert.

In the world, soccer of football is the most popular sport. This is because many countries have wonderful teams for the World Cup. The World Cup is held every four years.
To remember 2002 FIFA World Cup, children from different countries and more than 60 children from Japanese schools came together and spent three weekends drawing a big picture called “Dream World Cups” in Japan.
