I believe if it’s a good job, then my friend should take it. In today’s economy, it is hard enough finding a job as it is. If my friend has found a good job that deals with the career he wants, then I think he should take it. I have other friends who have graduated and taken jobs that have nothing to do with what the studied in college. For example my friend Joe majored in English and is now a sales person at an Apple store. This kind of job will not help him with his career, but it is his only option. It might be hard to live away from home, but I think this is a good opportunity for my friend. Plus, technology, like Skype, makes it easier to live far away.

I prefer to study by myself. In that way, I can keep my own pace, and I’m actually able to motivate myself more and learn something on my own. And it always gives me a sense of achievement. Plus if I study with people they always interfere with my concentration and I can’t, you know, learn to think for myself. You know, people who come up with creative ideas, sometimes it’s hard for them to work in a group. And it’s hard to get a logical method. For example when I study GMAT test I don’t need a lot of people talking, I just need to study by myself.

　　【名词解释】：reading上就说人面对一个problem的时候，一是去do nothing，二是去采取行动，但是人们普遍会do nothing，因为take action很可能带来negative effect。

　　【教授举例】；教授举例子说自己几周前开车去赶飞机，一路都挺smoothly的，但是遇见了traffic jam，花了半个小时基本一动不动，这时候他想起了一个alternative road，只不过比较绕远。最后他还是决定继续等，因为他都等很久了，如果去另一条路，万一那条路也堵车呢，最后他miss 了 airplane。

解析：阅读中提到，人面对一个困难（problem）的时候会出现的两种情况，一种是do nothing，一种是take action。讲座中，教授举了一个自己的亲身经历。答题思路：首先阐释阅读中人面对两种困难的两种反应以及普遍会出现的情况，之后过渡听力材料中教授的例子，just like the example from the professor，最后详细复述和概括教授的例子。注意阅读和听力内容两者间的对应。

　　【解决方案】：女生提议1：提前买机票（好像是啊，当时正写他的问题呢，就发现都说解决办法了），男的说马上时间就到了，机票贵啊。提议2：改坐火车去，不过火车要一天，而且是如果坐火车，他就会错过MISS某个学科的review session，那个很重要什么的。

　　解析：答题思路：男生的问题是他去纽约帮助生物（biology）老师和教授做presentation的路费不给报销。有两个解决办法，一是提前买机票，二是改坐火车去。可以选择第一个solution，理由是改坐火车要一天的时间，会miss一个review session，但是机票虽然贵但可以轻松用part-time job搞定。非常典型的第五题，用经典策略就可以搞定。

　　第六题：

　　【讲课要点】：教授说-种鸟的什么mixture fly，反正就是一种鸟飞行什么的组合之类的。就说flock，在flock里叫的不容易被predator吃了。举例子是chichixxx鸟和 woodxxx两种鸟，chichixxx鸟--般飞行在里面不容易被吃。还有说chichixxx鸟就负责检测有没有危险，当它发现危险，就会发出叫声通知人家。Woodxxx就只负责寻找食物。

　　解析：答题思路：教授提到鸟的mixture fly,并根据听力材料解释何为mixture fly（在flock里叫的鸟不容易被predator吃了）。教授用两个例子来具体解释这个term。（S/he gives two examples to support that.）一个是chichixxx，这种鸟一般飞行在里面不容易被吃， 它负责检测有没有危险，当它发现危险，就会发出叫声通知人家；另一种鸟叫做woodxxx，这种鸟只负责寻找食物（注意答题时，根据听力材料，区分两种鸟的特质）。
