2012 was a big year for fashion: Alexander Wang was appointed creative director at Balenciaga, Raf Simons took the helm at Christian Dior and many of our favorite celebrities hit red carpets looking drop-dead gorgeous. Our best-dressed list has been plentiful this year thanks to ladies like Gwyneth Paltrow and Taylor Swift, who always earn top marks in our style books. Then there were celebrities who surprised us: Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry both underwent fashion transformations that deserve a thumbs-up.
